MY role
In this team project, I mainly participated in model design and animation production. The workflow mainly involves drawing frame-by-frame animations using procreate, ps, and collaborating with partners to use touchdesigner and madmapper for projection.
Background
DKL0919 represents an emotional diagnostic robot within a fictional world tasked with capturing and processing patients' adverse emotions, converting them into personal experiences that facilitate their recovery from mental illnesses. Ultimately, DKL0919 succumbs to overwhelming negativity leading to system failure caused by excessive load.
As humans, we encounter diverse forms of negative emotions; similarly, robots can become inundated when confronted with an excess accumulation thereof. Thus, possessing the capacity for self-reconciliation becomes indispensable for preserving human mental well-being - hence the inception of this project.
Concept development
The initial idea for the installation design came from the silhouette of a crowd vector drawing, which abstractly expresses the circular element as a square element.
In the process of assembling the model, we found that a single gradient arrangement made the model uninteresting, so we hoped to simulate the concept of "emotional fragmentation" in the process of emotional diagnosis by randomly arranging the cubes.
